Abstract

This writing attempts to reconstruct Enrique Dussel's concern with affirming and developing philosophically a transmodern project that aspires to promote the cultural otherness of postcolonial peoples based on the contributions of the Philosophy of Liberation.

First, the aim is to reconstruct the beginnings of the philosopher's concerns with the problems of cultures and their relationships  with  each  other,  taking  as  a starting point some biographical writings of the author himself and the theoretical influences that allowed him to construct the Philosophy  of  Liberation,  which  will  become,  in  later  texts,  the  proposal  of  a  transmodern philosophy.

Secondly, it presents some thoughts on the figure of the oppressed people as the privileged subject of liberation and intercultural dialogue that will constitute the transmodern project.

Finally, the text analyzes Transmodernity and its characteristic features in relation to the consideration of Modernity as an invention and the commitment to a “transmodern pluriverse (with many universalities), multicultural, in critical intercultural dialogue” (Dussel, 2015, p. 257).
