Abstract

The structuralist economist Marcelo Diamand in “The unbalanced productive structure. Argentina and the exchange rate” stated that the balance of payments crisis was the main factor limiting the country's growth. Five years later in “The Argentine pendulum: political tie or economic failures?” he stated that in recent decades there had been, like a pendulum, sharp and frequent alternations between economic policies that could be considered typical of populism and orthodoxy. In this text we propose to take his contributions, apply them to the analysis of recent political-economic development in Argentina (2015-2024) and reflect on its scope and limitations.
