Abstract

In this paper, the determination of the variables that affect the rationality, as opposed to the use, exploitation or enjoyment, of a strategic ecosystem such as the Colombian Paramo, denoted by the problems it has, is proposed; whose importance lies in the generation of goods and services, among which the water retention and storage capacity stands out, in addition to giving rise to water basins. Today, many functions of this ecosystem are seen by the degradation that the Paramo is undergoing due to natural causes such as global warming and other anthropogenic ones, linked to the mismanagement of the ecosystem. The conclusions obtained redirect attention to the problems of an ecosystem that possesses a resource that requires value and management as a key factor for its conservation.
