This study analyze the impact of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on Argentine exports, motivated by previous researchers questioning the effectiveness of the WTO and the positive (or negative) effect on the economies of member countries. The study is based on the main macroeconomic indicators analysis: exports, gross domestic product, international transport costs, real bilateral exchange rate and also dummy variables for Argentina and its partnerships, during the period 1995-2018. Based on the augmented gravity model, Poisson Pseudo-Likelihood and Ordinary Least Squared approaches have been applied due to it is adjusted for time series and panel data analysis. Many studies reveal evidence on how the membership in the WTO contributes to increase trade flows. Our empirical results demonstrate that being a member of the WTO generates a positive impact on Argentine exports of goods.
